George Stroh
Sound Doctrine
By George Stroh
January 6, 2014

All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work. (2 Timothy 3:16)

Vince Lombardi, the legendary football coach of the 1960's Green Bay Packers, began the first day of practice each year by holding up a football and saying to his professional players, "Gentleman... this is a football." He made the point that even professional football players need to remember and practice the basic fundamentals of the game to be equipped to win. By the way, for those old enough to remember, Coach Lombardi knew a thing or two about winning football games!

Christian... this is a Bible! And to be adequate, equipped for every good work, Christian believers must be continually nourished with the sound doctrine (teaching) of scripture; So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ. (Romans 10:17) Without the sound doctrine of scripture no one will hear or believe the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. To grow and mature spiritually, Christian believers must be diligently and accurately taught the bible, God's word. This is why our enemy, Satan, will do whatever he can to keep believers, as well as unbelievers, away from sound biblical doctrine; for the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires, and will turn away their ears from the truth and will turn aside to myths. (2 Timothy 4:3, 4)
If you are currently in a church where the sound doctrine of the bible is not regularly, diligently and accurately preached and taught, you need to leave and find a church that more highly esteems and values the word of God; For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart. (Hebrews 4:12)

Vince Lombardi told his players to "Run for the daylight!" And Jesus Christ tells His followers, "I am the light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." (John 8:12) Run to the Light! Maranatha!
