There is only one way to have forgiveness of sins and eternal life...
Jesus said, "Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it." (Matthew 7:13-14)
The Bible tells us that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God and that there is none righteous, not even one. (Romans 3:23 and Romans 3:10)
The wages for sin or God's penalty for sin, even one sin, is death. Not just physical death, but spiritual death which is eternal separation from God in a literal place called hell or "the lake of fire"; The wages of sin is death. (Romans 6:23a)
No one is able to escape God's judgment and eternal spiritual death by doing good deeds or works like being baptized, church membership, trying to be a better person or by any other so called good work. The penalty for sin is eternal death in hell and the penalty must be paid.
The Gospel which means "good news" is that God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. ( Romans 5:8) In other words, Jesus Christ has already paid the required penalty for us, saving us from God's wrath and providing for our justification before God. This salvation, justification and eternal life in heaven is a free gift from God; But the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 6:3b)
However, we only receive this free gift of salvation by faith and faith alone in the finished work of Christ; For we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from works of the law. (Romans 3:28) For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is a gift of God. (Ephesians 2:8) Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but throgh Me." (John 14:6)
There is only one way... Are you on the broad road that leads to destruction or are you on the narrow road that leads to eternal life?
