Words of Blessing or Cursing
March 7, 2016
By Pastor George Stroh

So the tongue is a small part of the body, and yet it boasts of great things. (James 3:2)

Our words to others can bring blessing, comfort, encouragement and joy. They can also bring cursing, discouragement, hurt, and sadness to others. In my seventy plus years, there have been many words I wish that I had never uttered and there are also many other words that I regret were never spoken. Both our words of blessing and cursing are indeed powerful and can cause great good, as well as, cause great harm; From the same mouth come both blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be this way. (James 3:10).
We can do little, other than apologize, for those hurtful things we have said in the past to someone. And, unfortunately, those moments when we could have and should have spoken words of love and blessing to someone are often gone forever; Better is open rebuke than love that is concealed. (Proverbs 27:5)

What we can do, from this day forward, is to use our powerful tongue and all those future opportunities God gives us to edify and bless those who hear our words, to His glory. Maranatha!
