Whether, then, you eat or drink or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. (1 Corinthians 10::31)
Life is a series of decisions. Some are major decisions like, who should I marry or what is my career choice? Some decisions are easy and seemingly minor like what should I eat or drink? I say "seemingly" because experience shows us that even the seemingly easy and minor day-to-day decisions can have major consequences.
The Bible doesn't say that we have a "free" will, independent of God's divine sovereignty when it comes to making decisions. This tension between God's sovereignty and man's will is true biblical doctrine, but incomprehensible in human understanding and logic; The mind of man plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps. (Proverbs 16:9)
However, the bible also says that we have a "responsible" will; So then each one of us will give an account of himself to God. (Romans 14:12). In other words, even though God is totally sovereign in all things, we are responsible for the decisions we make. Our decisions must be sifted through the word of God where His will is revealed. And when we are unsure of His will we can ask Him; But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him. (James 1:5)
Finally, we all at times make seemingly wrong choices and bad decisions. Thankfully, God judges the motives of our heart and not just our choices and decisions. So even seemingly wrong choices and bad decisions, if made with the right, godly motives, are pleasing to God; Whatever you do, do to the glory of God. Maranatha!
