Decisions... Decisions

My son, if you will receive my words and treasure my commandments within you, make your ear attentive to wisdom, incline your heart to understanding; For if you cry for discernment, lift your voice for understanding; If you seek her as silver and search for her as for hidden treasures; Then you discern the fear of the Lord and discover the knowledge of God. (Proverbs 2:1-5)
Life is a series of decisions. Some decisions may seem insignificant and inconsequential like, "What should I eat for breakfast today?" Some decisions are obviously very significant with lasting consequences like, "Should I get married?" But even the seemingly small decisions, have consequences-- Sometimes life changing consequences.
Thankfully, our Almighty God is in total control and His perfect, sovereign will always trumps our decisions. Nevertheless, as I think back over my life, I realize that from my human perspective, the many decisions I have made, both large and small, both wise and foolish, have indeed impacted and directed my life.
Unfortunately, we can't undue the foolish decisions we have made in the past, often based upon wrong information and resulting in negative consequences. As someone has rightly said; "Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but we have the gift of today. That is why this gift is called the present!" Each new day is indeed a gift from God with new opportunities to make wise decisions.
Since our decisions are potentially so significant and consequential, should we not try to make wise decisions based upon sound information? The Bible has all the information we need to make wise decisions; All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work. (2 Timothy 3:16)
No, the Bible won't tell you exactly what you should eat for breakfast today or if you should get married, but it will give you godly wisdom, insight, discernment, direction, conviction, motivation and the courage to make wise decisions. And if you still don't know what to do, you can ask God for His wisdom; But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him. (James 1:5)
Determine right now to make wise decisions today and every new day you are given. Make decisions that are consistent with God's Word and His Wisdom; If you seek her as silver and search for her as for hidden treasures; Then you will discern the fear of the Lord and discover the knowledge of God.
