Ashamed of Jesus?
April 24, 2017
By George Stroh

For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words, the Son of Man will be ashamed of him when He comes in His glory, and the glory of the Father and of the holy angels. (Luke 9:26)
Why do we find it so hard to tell others the saving gospel of Jesus Christ? Are we fearful of their negative response? Fearful of being disliked and labeled as being too religious, judgmental, non-intellectual, intolerant, a societal loser. Hopefully, we are not those who are ashamed of Him and of His gospel!

As Christians, we understand that the only way anyone can come to Christ, have forgiveness of sins and be saved from God's wrath is to first hear the gospel; How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without a preacher? (Romans 10:14) So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ. (Romans 19:17)

As Christians, we must never be ashamed of Jesus or His gospel. We are to fulfill our ministry as ambassadors for Christ, proclaiming the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ to all those God puts in our path. Some will hear, believe and be saved. Most will not. And, because of our gospel witness we can expect rejection, humiliation, and to suffer lose in this life. But, as the Apostle Paul wrote; For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes... (Romans 1:16) Maranatha!
