AWord to the Wise

"The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; Fools despise wisdom and instruction." (Proverbs 1:7)
Recently, the celebrated 68 year old British physicist, Stephen Hawking, said; "I regard the brain as a computer which will stop working when its components fail. There is no heaven or afterlife for broken down computers. That is a fairy story for people afraid of the dark." While no one questions Stephen Hawking's intellect and education, God declares that he and all those who don't fear the Lord are fools without wisdom.
One of Satan's big lies is that God does not exist; "The fool has said in his heart, 'There is no God...'" (Psalms 53:1). Until one believes that the God of the Bible does exist, then he or she will have no regard for the truth and wisdom in God's word. They are spiritually blind. Jesus spoke of this spiritual blindness in His Sermon on the Mount; "The eye is the lamp of the body; so then if your eye is clear, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light that is in you is darkness, how great is the darkness!" (Matthew 6:22,23)
This explains why Satan, his demons and false teachers will do and say anything to distort, discredit and draw people away from the Bible, which is the word of God. God has revealed Himself in what is known as general or natural revelation; "The heavens are telling of the glory of God; And their expanse is declaring the works of His hands." (Psalms 19:1). But only in His word has He given us specific revelation and knowledge, including revelation about Jesus Christ and His gospel of salvation; "So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ." (Romans 10:17)
At Maranatha Bible Church we are guided exclusively by the truth and wisdom of the Bible. Our mission is to worship God and to edify and equip His Church through the proclamation of the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ and the systematic, expository teaching of His Word; "All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work."
(2 Timothy 3:16).
If you want to know the truth and to gain understanding and wisdom about anything "pertaining to life and godliness" (2 Peter 1:3), you must come to God and to His word; "How sweet are Your words to my taste! Yes, sweeter than honey to my mouth! From Your precepts I get understanding; Therefore I hate every false way. Your word is lamp to my feet And a light to my path." (Psalm 119:102-105). Amen and Maranatha!
