Why So Much Evil in the World?
June 13, 2016
By George Stroh

And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God any longer, God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do those things which are not proper, being filled with all unrighteousness, wickedness, greed, evil; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, malice; they are gossips, slanderers, haters of God, insolent, arrogant, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, without understanding, untrustworthy, unloving, unmerciful; and although they know the ordinance of God, that those who practice such things are worthy of death, they not only do the same, but also give hearty approval to those who practice them. (Romans 1:28-32)

Again today there has been another mass shooting and the nation is in a collective state of shock asking, "Why so much evil in the world?" Why do people do the awful things they do to others, including murder? On average, there are 44 people murdered every day in the United States alone. That is over 16,000 each year. The word of God, the Bible, has the real answer to the question, "Why so much evil in the world?"

God tells us that we are all born spiritually broken with a sin nature that rejects God and His word. Our spiritually broken sin nature functions with a depraved mind that causes us to be filled with all unrighteousness. The result is that we are capable of all kind of evil sins, including murder. Not only do those with a sin nature commit all kinds of sins, they also give hearty approval to those who practice them.

Our spiritually broken sin nature can't be fixed, nor can it be restored and God's penalty for sin is eternal hell. You say, "I'm not that bad... I haven't committed murder!" Well, have you ever been envious, greedy, deceitful, or boastful? Have you every been a gossip? If so, you are guilty before God and subject to His judgment and His penalty of eternal hell.

Here is the good news (the gospel). You can have a new nature! A nature that is totally righteous before God. A new holy nature in Christ Jesus that is not subject to God's judgment and condemnation; Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. (Romans 8:1)

If you haven't already done so, today please receive God's gift of a new nature in Christ Jesus. To learn more about how you can get this free gift from God, please click here. If you already have a new nature in Christ Jesus, please share this with someone who doesn't. Maranatha!
