Incomprehensible Peace

And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:7)
I was a patient in the intensive care unit of the hospital, having lost about 50% of my blood due to a not yet diagnosed gastrointestinal bleed. I was getting very weak and there were serious concerns about my rapid heart rate and dropping blood pressure. Eight days later, 8 units of blood transfusions, numerous tests, and emergency surgery to remove a gastrointestinal stromal tumor and my condition finally began to improve. As I write this, I'm back home on the road to recovery.
Throughout this medical storm, my wife, Linda, and I experienced incomprehensible peace and calm. We knew that many were praying for us and our medical team. I received excellent care and tremendous support from family and friends. But it was God's supernatural, incomprehensible peace that really sustained us.
God doesn't promise to keep us from the various storms of life, the trials and tribulations that we must all, from time to time encounter; Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials (James 1:2). What God does promise His children is that His incomprehensible peace will guard our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus through the various storms of life. Therefore we can and do consider it all joy, knowing that He loves us and is with us.
