Sanctify them in the truth; Your word is truth. (John 17:17)
The Bible is actually one book, written over a period of 1,500 years with one Divine author through the pens of 40 human writers. The inspired writers were all recognized prophets or apostles or men closely associated with them. None of Scripture disagrees or contradicts other Scripture and the completed canon of Scripture was accepted by the early church as the inspired word of God.
It takes more faith to deny that the Bible is the Word of God than to acknowledge that the Bible is the inspired word of God and His truth. Quoting from Dr. John MacArthur's Study Bible; This book contains: the mind of God, the state of man, the way of salvation, the doom of sinners, and the happiness of believers. Its doctrine is holy, its precepts are binding, its histories are true, and its decisions are immutable. Read it to be wise, believe it to be saved, and practice it to be holy.
But what if the Bible is not true? Then maybe my ancient ancestors were monkeys. Maybe there is no God or, if there is, that He will not judge my sins. And maybe Jesus Christ was not resurrected, did not die for my sins and won't be returning to earth someday.Then again, if the Bible is true, Jesus did die on a Roman cross to pay for my sins. He was resurrected and He will be returning to earth someday; For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. (John 3:16)
If the Bible is true, then there is a coming judgement for sin and a literal, eternal hell reserved for those who have not heard and believed the gospel; For if we go on sinning willfully after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, but a terrifying expectation of judgment and the fury of a fire which will consume the adversaries... It is a terrifying thing to fall into the hands of the living God. (Hebrews 10:26,27 & 31)
Be encouraged if you are a believer and warned if you are not. The Bible is the word of God and is all true! Maranatha!
