Praying for Salavation
September 18, 2016
By George Stroh

Brethren, my heart's desire and my prayer to God for them is for their salvation. (Romans 10:1)

As a Pastor, people often ask me to pray for them, which, of course, I am happy to do. Most prayer requests concern health, financial and relationship issues and God does want us to bring these issues to Him; Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be known to God. (Philippians 4:6)

But like the Apostle Paul, my heart's desire and my prayer to God for them is for their salvation. Paul was writing about his people, Israel, who have a zeal for God, but not in accordance with knowledge. They were ignorantly counting on their own righteousness for salvation, rather than the righteousness of God obtained by faith in Christ Jesus alone.
We all have family and friends who believe in God and may even be religious, but are not truly trusting in the finished work of salvation provided only by Jesus Christ alone; That if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. (Romans 10:9)

Yes, pray about everything for others, as well as, for yourself. But especially keep praying for the salvation of those family members, friends and even strangers that God has put in your life. Pray that He, in His amazing grace and loving mercy, will open their spiritual eyes to the truth of the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. Do it now.  Maranatha!
