Robert Murray McCheyne was a godly young Pastor in the Church of Scotland. He died of typhus at the age of just 29 in 1843. As a testament to the impact of this young Pastor's ministry, an estimated 7,000 people attended his funeral at St Peter's Church in Dundee.
Pastor McCheyne would often ask people, "Do you believe that Jesus is coming today?" If they said "No", he would say, "Then you had better get ready, for He is coming at an hour when you do not expect!" The most important question for each of us is, "Are you ready for Jesus Christ's return to earth?"
This time of year we celebrate the birth of Jesus, His first coming to earth. God became a Man (Immanuel) to save us from our sins; For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.(John 3:16)
While no one knows the day or the hour, Jesus will someday return to earth. This time not to save sinners, but to gather those who have, by faith, received His salvation and to judge those who have not believed in Him; ...On the day when, according to my gospel, God will judge the secrets of men through Christ Jesus. (Romans 2:16)
So while we again Joyously celebrate the first coming of Jesus Christ this Christmas season, I hope and pray that you are ready for and looking forward to His second coming. Merry Christmas and Maranatha!
